21 years after the fact, Nike decided it is going to attempt to patent a power lacing device which is supposedly exactly like the Trainers seen in Back To The Future 2.
An article of footwear with an automatic lacing system is disclosed. The automatic lacing system provides a set of straps that can be automatically opened and closed to switch between a loosened and tightened position of the upper. The article further includes an automatic ankle cinching system that is configured to automatically adjust an ankle portion of the upper.
Nobody is really sure why Nike is doing this, but they certainly have impeccable timing, seeing as how the Back To The Future Trilogy will be released on Blu-ray on October 26th, the same day Marty met Doc Brown in the first movie.
