Adam Savage is a fan of cosplay. It’s one of the many reasons why we love him.
Then we saw this video from the 2016 TED conference. In it, he speaks from the heart about his love of cosplay and the community around it. For him, cosplay is more than a hobby—it’s personal, emotional thing that he still struggles to be comfortable with:
Cosplay as storytelling is really personal to me. It’s also probably the hobby I’m most embarrassed about. Even more than prop collecting, it’s a weird thing to be driven to do. And yet it’s important.
Check out the video below and be prepared to love Adam Savage even more.
Apparently, there’s more to come at SDCC. Savage notes on Tested that he will be joined in a (presumably cosplay-focused) panel by award winning costume designer Deborah Nadoolman Landis (Raiders of the Lost Ark, Coming To America) and cosplayer Jay Justice.
