Costume designer Yuri Schuurkes spent years making his Spider-Man costume from scratch, but a proper face mask proved elusive. That is until he sought help from a professional 3D designer to print the perfect Spidey mask. He was inspired to begin the costume build ever since watching Spider-Man back in 2002, but he felt he couldn’t complete the entire ensemble the way he envisioned it. Schuurkes tells 3D Print:
“But then new 3D printing technology arrived and it opened all the doors. Not only could I keep fine tuning the design until it was exactly the way I wanted it to be, it also made it possible to easily create multiple sizes so everybody could wear one.”
He spent six months designing the mask which included the face shell and removable eye plates that lock in place with magnets. The custom-made fabric is pulled over the mask and under the eyes for a perfect fit.

The mask is now for sale through Shapeways to help other fans complete the Spidey costume of their dreams.
