Part of living with cerebral palsy means that 8-year-old Hope Laliberte has to wear leg braces. But Hope wasn’t about to wear any boring old braces, so she asked her parents if she could add a design.
She wanted something very special—Disney villains. Specifically Ursula from The Little Mermaid and Cruella de Vil from 101 Dalmatians.
This is where tattoo artist Aaron Guillemette comes in. Guillemette drew up Ursula and Cruella in tattoo style, and his art was then turned into labels which were affixed to the braces and covered in polyurethane. From Today:
“I’m glad to be in a position where I can help the community in any way. When I was first approached about designing Hope’s braces, I thought it would be an awesome idea — especially when I heard what the subject matter would be. Hope wanted Disney Villains on her braces, not princesses,” said Guillemette.
The end result is so fantastic that Hope looks forward to wearing her braces instead of dreading it. That’s pretty awesome, if you ask me.
