Catherine Elhoffer’s having a wonderful time making new sweater designs and she’s really gone and done it now. Look at these oversized Harry Potter-inspired kimono knitted shrugs!

Much like her previous sweaters, each shrug has animal representations of the Hogwarts houses, only these are knitted down the wearer’s right side in a staggered totem (faces will be made slightly smaller in production). There are also two pockets, one of which is long and narrow (for your wand of course).

Catherine says these kimono styles are One Size Fits Most with short shrugs for those of us under 5’5 and tall shrugs for those of you above that. (Hi up there!)

The shrugs are currently up for pre-order and they’re priced at $65.00. Check out more pics below. [click to continue…]

I know it’s coming up on summer, but when it gets chilly, you’re going to need a sweater. Plus, this is a Captain Marvel sweater which makes it way more awesome than your average sweater. All you need is the mohawk and you’re good to go.

Simple but cute is something I can always appreciate. This Studio Ghibli Kiki’s Delivery Service Jiji Cardigan from Hot Topic is exactly that. The JiJi on the front is probably my favorite feature.

I feel like it would be great to wear on a day when I have a ton of errands to do.

I saw this new Harry Potter Gryffindor cardigan from Hot Topic and all I thought was, “Well, that’s just perfect”.

Seriously, cardigans are so much cooler these days. I’m used to cardigans being boring, itchy and generally something your mom made you wear when you were supposed to “look nice”.

Is it bad that I hope they make one for Slytherin?

As a plus sized lady, I’m pretty familiar with Torrid and, if you aren’t familiar with Hot Topic’s plus sized sister store, it’s a good time to get to know them.

While the store went off the rails fashion-wise for a few years, they’re definitely skewing back to the kinds of geek goth alternative styles many of us came to love—as evidenced by this Disney Nightmare Before Christmas drape cardigan.

The ugly Christmas sweater is already thing of legend but this Zelda version takes it to another level. Technically, this isn’t a sweater but a screen-printed design that looks like a sweater, which somehow makes it even more fantastic.

creepy cat

The person who shared the instructions on how to make this Cat Sweater with Zipper says “This project features a cute cat sweater which transforms into a creepy cat sweater thanks to the zipper detail!” — but all I see is creepy cat.

Creepy cat and creepier cat.

Still, if you want to make this creepy sweater and call it cute or creepy, you can. Just stay far away from me.

sweater - gremlins

This is the perfect time of the year to stock up on “ugly” sweaters, and Mondo has a couple of new offerings to help you get ready for the holidays. They teamed up with Middle of Beyond (the makers of this striking Cthulhu sweater) to release designs based on Fargo and Gremlins. The sweaters are colorful, and since they’re made from 100% heavy knit acrylic, they’re sure to be warm – even if you’re in Minnesota and even if someone trys to get water on the Mogwai.

The sweaters are available for pre-order and will ship in December.

cthulhu

The level of comfortable a well made sweater or cardigan adds to your wardrobe cannot be overstated, and if you’re going to track one down, it may as well be geeky. Middle of Beyond has you covered with their offbeat designs featuring Cthulhu, Sasquatch (Adam Savage of Mythbusters has one), Krampus, an Ancient Aliens pyramid, and more. Their styles definitely make a statement and will help you stand out in a crowd.

They’re taking pre-orders for their collection, and the 100% acrylic sweaters and cardigans will ship in May.
