Germs are a fact of life, but if you ever felt like the 3D glasses you got at the theater were dirty, it wasn’t just your hypochondria talking. A recent study by ABC tested glasses from seven theaters in New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut, and not a single pair were sterile.
“3D glasses given out at cinemas were found to be contaminated with bacteria that can cause conjunctivitis, skin infections, food poisoning, or even sepsis or pneumonia, but docs say that the germs found are no more threatening than what you find on the arm rest, box of popcorn, or movie seats.”
Cue the sounds of disgust.

First of all, there are only about four drive-ins left in the country, and none of them have this many cars in the parking lot. Secondly, in the age of CGI, no theater owner would show the kind of crap these guys watched unless they wanted to commit career suicide.

The guys at io9 have put together a list of comic book costumes that have actually translated well to the big screen. The list includes the likes of Iron Man, Hellboy and the Joker but leaves out obvious ones like TMNT, Sin City, 300 and X-Men. Generally speaking though, good movies tend to have good costumes—i.e. Superman the Movie vs Superman Returns. It’s kind of a prerequisite. Check out io9 for the complete list.

That’s right, now hipsters can take a pair of polarized 3D glasses to the movies without compromising their “I spend a lot of time and effort trying to look like I don’t care” sense of fashion.
