We all understand the need for websites to be able to keep automated programs from being able to log in, retyping characters that are not perfectly formed is a simple way to do that. But illegible characters that need to be retyped will end up keeping everyone out. I guess a security system that no one can pass certainly lightens the workload for any web operator.
