Every year, Europeans from countries like Austria and Switzerland come out around Christmas time to celebrate Krampus—a demon-like character from folklore that steals naughty children. He’s kind of like the anti-Santa Claus…and he’s terrifying.
Not surprisingly, this tradition is starting to take hold in the US among people who have grown weary of the saccharin sweetness of the holiday season.
Check out a video of a Krampus parade after the break.
In case you’ve forgotten, it’s the holiday season. If you’re not in the spirit yet, go watch the The Star Wars Holiday Special. That will either put you in the mood for Christmas or make you want to cry – it’s a toss-up. Christmas is only a couple of weeks away though; you don’t have a lot of time to procrastinate. We’re here to make life easier. We’ve got gift ideas from rings to shoes to shirts, and one of them will be the right gift for the geek on your list.

Santa hats are obviously improved by the addition of pointy ears. Kids have the Star Wars option with the festive red and green Yoda hat, and adults get the more logical blue Star Trek hat featuring Spock’s ears. If you’re going to wear a holiday hat, you may as well just take it here and get some laughs.
