Canadians know how to make the best of a bad winter. Takhini Hot Springs is up near Whitehorse in northwestern Canada, and it’s a natural hot spring that features an annual tradition that’s been generating a lot of buzz on the Internet.

Every February, the management encourages bathers to wet and style their hair into extravagant hairdos as it freezes. Even during winter, the springs are typically about 96 to 107 F, but the air temp in February is typically around -22 F, which is ideal for frozen hair fashion. Whoever has the most outlandish ‘do is awarded a prize of $150.
