Bullied Boy Banned From Bringing His My Little Pony Backpack To School

Here’s your backward bit of news for the day. When 9-year-old Grayson Bruce told his Mom, Noreen, that he was being bullied for his My Little Pony backpack, she took appropriate action and told the school. The school then took completely inappropriate action and, rather than confronting the bullies, told Grayson that he could no longer bring his backpack to school.

Noreen Bruce understandably took exception to the school’s decision, feeling the show promotes friendship and positive values. They’ve now started a petition and created a facebook page to support Grayson and are using #SupportForGrayson to spread the word about what’s happening at their school. Even conservative radio host Glenn Beck got involved telling Grayson to stick to his guns and not let the kids or the school get him down. So what does the school have to say about the matter?

“An initial step was taken to immediately address a situation that had created a disruption in the classroom. Buncombe County Schools takes bullying very seriously, and we will continue to take steps to resolve this issue.”

Let’s see if they actually do something reasonable, you know, like call out the bullies and let Grayson bring whatever darn backpack he likes to school.
