9 Year Old Gets Suspended For Wielding The Imaginary Power Of The One Ring

It would be easy to turn the story of young Aiden’s being suspended into a diatribe about how this school in Kermit, Texas may need to go back to school itself to get a little education, but I’m going to avoid that because part of me needs to look at the bright side here.

Apparently, telling a kid you can make him “disappear” with your “One Ring” is considered a threat at Kermit Elementary School. From the NY Daily News:

“It sounded unbelievable,” the boy’s father, Jason Steward, told the Daily News. He insists his son “didn’t mean anything by it.”

The Stewards had just watched “The Hobbit: The Battle of Five Armies” days earlier, inspiring Aiden’s imagination and leading him to proclaim that he had in his possession the one ring to rule them all.

If I’m looking on the bright side, then this is about how cool it is that Aiden has a great imagination and will very likely grow up to be a highly intelligent adult. Who knows, maybe he’ll be a cosplayer too.
