Meet the hippest 3-year old geek with the best fashion sense ever! She’s the daughter of stay-at-home dad and blogger Simon Ragoonanan. He loves her unique style so much that he decided to let her start dressing herself, and the results went viral.
Simon writes on his blog Man vs. Pink that girls can be more than just princesses and “that pink doesn’t have to be the only colour they like.” He lets his amazing little girl have her own voice and allow her personality to shine…with capes and all.
“Since she’s turned 3, I’ve decided to stop doing that, as I’m trying to raise an independent, empowered girl. I’m kind of sending mixed messages if I decide what she wears every day! So every morning, she chooses herself.”

Simon and his daughter are truly inspirational. Together they are showing the world how beautifully confident little girls can be when you let them be.
“I want my daughter to be her own girl and then woman, but with such marketing force trying to sell to her and define what they want girls to be, I feel I have to compensate a bit, so I’ve always encouraged her to wear the geeky stuff — as much to show others as well as herself that being ‘girly’ doesn’t have to mean pink and ‘princessy.”
Her outfits range from Superman, Spiderman, and Batman tees paired with funky print leggings, colorful skirts, and super hero footwear. Simon posts her geek chic choices on Instagram . I’m completely jealous of her closet and wish I was brave enough to pull off these creative and fun outfits.
“I am confident I am doing right by my daughter, that these things are a positive influence on her developing personality. But in order for her to not be socially excluded because of it, I also need her peers and their parents to accept girls can be just as engaged with these things as boys.”
I’ve found my new fashion muse. I’ve also found another reason to be so very proud of geek culture today and the parents that are showing their little ones acceptance and exploration. “Fly like a girl” is totally my new motto!
