Badali Jewelry has the license to produce jewelry based on the book version of The Hobbit, and they do a delightful job of designing imaginative pieces. The latest in that line was introduced at Comic-Con: the door to Bag End on a necklace!
The door to the home of Bilbo Baggins (and later Frodo) is one of the most iconic doors in all of time. Okay, I might be exaggerating a bit, but Bag End is a memorable place. To me, this necklace not only brings to mind The Hobbit, it also makes me think of home.
From the seller:
“It had a perfectly round door like a porthole, painted green, with a shiny yellow brass knob in the exact middle”. The runes in the top right corner is the secret mark made by Gandalf to alert Thorin’s Dwarven party that this was the home of their burglar and treasure hunter. The mark is a Dwarvish bindrune combining the meanings of the “F” and “R” runes. Together the runes indicate that the occupant of the home is in search of a journey for wealth, treasure and adventure and is willing to travel, or as Gandalf described it, “Burglar wants a good job, plenty of excitement and reasonable reward”.
You can get the pendant in sterling silver, white or yellow bronze, or 14k gold.
