Judge To Rule If Dark Link’s Shield Nearly Severed Teen’s Nose

Dark Link causes all sorts of headaches in Legend of Zelda, but now the character’s shield is being blamed for a real-world accident that nearly severed a teenager’s nose. Twenty-year-old Brandt Beeds was dressed as Dark Link at a Halloween party in Saskatchewan when he got into an argument with another partygoer (unnamed as a juvenile). Beeds’ friend, 18-year-old Dillon Buck, stepped in to help and that’s when things went terribly wrong.

Apparently, the third party smashed Buck over the head with a beer bottle intended for Beeds. Then, in a daze, saw his buddy Beeds coming at him with the shield. Next thing he knew, it felt like he’d been punched in the face and his nose had nearly been severed from his face. It had to be surgically reattached and he’ll have a scar from the accident.

Beeds insists that it wasn’t his shield, but a broken beer bottle that is the culprit and his testimony is supported by a witness named, Jasmine Bitternose (yes, seriously). The case is set to be decided on March 19th by Donna Scott of Saskatoon Provincial Court.
