Incredible ‘Howl’s Moving Castle’ Cosplay

c1

This impossibly awesome Howl’s Moving Castle cosplay was made by Sonja Cool from Hopkins, Minnesota over the course of a year and a half. She took breaks during the build, but that’s still a huge amount of time to commit to one costume. According to BuzzFeed:

“It’s a base of chicken wire, 12-gauge wire, with a little bit of mattress pad foam, and then a TON of EVA craft foam,” says Sonja. “The houses are made with foam poster board […] I also used a bit of Apoxie sculpt on the church, and a lot of wood glue to fill in cracks. I bought a largest glue gun I could from the hardware store when I first started, and I’m proud to say I have worn it out.”

The whole thing cost between $200 and $300 and weighed roughly 30 pounds when it was complete. It features LED lighting in each house and it even blows smoke!

Sonja wore it at CONvergence in Bloomington, Minnesota where she won Best Master and People’s Choice in the Masquerade Costume Contest. Naturally.
