For This Couple, Playing Team Fortress 2 Led To Marriage

People meeting online has become commonplace. Video games are a natural setting that brings like-minded people together. Damien and Rebecca met while playing Team Fortress 2 about two years ago. As a thank you to Valve for bringing them together, they created a photo book that shows all of their Team Fortress 2 cosplay and how their mutual love for the game helped strengthen their love for each other. They recently got married and sent the letter along with the photo book to Valve. The company responded by sending the happy couple back a medic statue from the game.

See more pictures and the letter the couple wrote Valve after the break.

Valve sent this statue to the couple:

Dear Valve Team,
I am writing you today to tell you our story of how Team Fortress 2 brought us together.
My wife and I met through Team Fortress two years ago when she saw my Meet the Medic cosplay online. Despite our love for opposite teams, me-BLU and her-RED, we started playing Medic and Heavy together and made a great team. We talked constantly, working together to refine metal and craft hats eventually becoming inseparable on and off game. Although she lived in warm, sunny Florida she eventually opted to move to freezing Canada with me after going back and forth for long visits. We were happily married on March 2nd 2013. Our vows included “you are the Medic to my Heavy” and we played “Still Alive” from Portal as our cake cutting song. We have our own small business now, Identity Productions, and have done quite a few TF2 commissions including Itsy Bitsy Spyers, Anger hoods, the Wraith Wrap, a couple of Sniper vests, a Soldier jacket replica, and more.
We wanted to let you know that if it wasn’t for your hard work on this awesome game we probably would have never met from so far away and we want to thank you all for making such a great game that has brought together so many people through killing tiny baby men and trading hats! We had this little photo book printed just for you and we hope you will take a moment to look through it and give yourselves a pat on the back.
