A Costume That’s a Wearable Ghost Story

This may just look like a castle costume – which is cool enough – but it’s more! It’s actually a wearable ghost story. Jamin Hoyle planned and built it over the course of a year. Each portion of the costume opens like an advent calendar to tell a different part of the story. Hoyle says:

Everything is controlled from inside the costume. The kids are moved via magnets under the floors. The ropes on the front are pulled from behind to open and close the doors, revealing the rooms inside. The magpie and the ship’s sails in the great hall are both hiding inside or behind furniture until they’re activated. The lightning is a simple led and the kids on the spiral stair rotate around a dowel set into a heavy paper tube with a spiral cut into it for a guide.

Wow. I am completely blown away by the creativity and beauty of this costume – it’s a work of art. Check out more photos of this impressive costume after the break (click to enlarge).
