We’ve all seen people who’ve painted their bodies in the name of cosplay. Usually it’s blue Na’vi or sexy green aliens from Star Trek or maybe even Hulk, but the folks at Australian Body Art Carnivale take things to a whole new level. This year’s theme was “Under the Sea” and it gave us mermaids, fish and tentacled creatures the likes of the ocean has never known.

Light is the new black and these beautiful dresses are made of nothing more. They are the creations of advertising and art photographer Atton Conrad. He makes the dresses by remotely triggering the camera while painting the light around the model in a blacked-out studio. It’s a shame there’s no way to actually wear these photographic pieces of art.

Three great sci-fi staples that go great together. This beautiful ring is the creation of Harpuahound over at Engraver’s Cafe. It was a custom project where the buyer requested the iconic TARDIS, the space shuttle and the Starfleet logo be mixed into the overall design. I think any sci-fi fan would be more than happy to be the owner of this beautiful work of art.

This isn’t your average The Avengers nail polish design. Instead of just featuring colors or symbols for each superhero, this paint job has the heads and torsos of Hulk, Iron Man, Cap, and Thor. Nicely done.

Raise your hand if you’re incapable of painting your fingernails without it ending in disaster.

You can’t see it, but I’m raising my hand. I can’t paint solid colors onto my fingernails let alone some of the cool designs I see my friends sport. Luckily, I can cheat with these great nerdy press on nails. They come pre-painted! I know you can get nail stickers at any store with cosmetics, but they don’t come in Iron Man patterns. I’ll definitely be investing in a set of these nails before Comic-Con.

There are so many things from the universe of Doctor Who that I wish I could own. I’d like a Sonic Screwdriver. I’d like a TARDIS. I’d like a fez and perhaps a bow tie. Now I can add to the list all of these Doctor Who themed shoes. They are so pretty, and so likely to break my ankle, that it may be a good thing that they are only designs by lonely-soles and not something I can go buy. Oh, but these are so good it might even be worth the cast and crutches.

Among other things, social networks inspire sharing, over-sharing, change, and shoe designs. Designer Lumen Bigott uses social media and ended up incorporating sites like Twitter, Flickr, You Tube, and more into fashionable Keds. Each pair has a different theme and feature an image that ties the sneakers to a certain website. Bigott says:

I’m a big fan of inspiration blogs, I also spend a lot of time in social networks and I love fashion: those three things are responsible of this shoes collection. The idea was to find the most important graphic elements of my favorite social networks and apply them to my favorite pair of shoes trying to keeping alive the essence of each brand.
