And The New Face Of Vuitton Is…Final Fantasy’s Lightning?

We all know that geek culture has already cracked the couture glass ceiling. We’ve seen designers turn out high-end fashions for Star Wars and Marvel. We’ve even seen folks from those universes modeling it. But what about a designer that takes those next steps into the fantasy world…literally?

That’s precisely what happened when Louis Vuitton announced their new Spring/Summer 16 model: Lightning from the Final Fantasy game series.

Describing the campaign as one in which “reality and fantasy become one”, Vuitton has teamed up with game developer Square Enix to create the imagery for the campaign.

It all seems an unlikely match, but we cannot deny how fascinating it is to see geek culture being adopted by some of the heavy hitters of fashion accessories. Naturally, fan reaction is mixed to seeing the character trade in her signature gunblades for a purse.
